Menopause
Menopause is currently a very topical issue in women’s health. Menopause is a natural phenomenon that marks the end of reproductive age in women. It is usually diagnosed when a woman has not had her period for 12 consecutive months. Menopause can cause a wide range of symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and mood swings.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be used to manage these symptoms. HRT can be administered as pills, patches, gel, subdermal implants or as spray. Non-hormonal therapies such as antidepressants, clonidine, and gabapentin can also be used to manage hot flashes. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and quitting smoking can also help to alleviate symptoms. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been shown to be helpful in relieving symptoms too.
My approach to management is holistic, preferring to bring a mind body approach to help alleviate the symptoms.
Gynaecology
Gynaecology is a specialty that focuses on the female reproductive system. As a gynaecologist, I deal with various conditions such as the peri- menopause, menstrual disorders, pre- menstrual symptoms, polycystic ovaries, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain etc. Treatment options depend on the specific condition and can include medications, intrauterine devices, hormonal implants besides minimally invasive or open surgeries. Regular gynaecological check-ups are important for early detection and management of gynaecological conditions which I am happy to offer.
Psychosexual Medicine
Psychosexual medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with the psychological and emotional aspects of sexual health. As a trained psychosexual specialist I understand the importance of addressing sexual issues such as sexual dysfunction, low libido, and painful sex during the course of my consultation and assess the contribution such issues may have to the presenting problem.
Reproductive Health
Reproductive health is an important aspect of overall health for women. As a reproductive health specialist I provide a wide range of reproductive health services, including contraceptive choice counselling, preconception counselling, and subfertility management. I cannot emphasise enough the importance of having regular reproductive health check-ups in order to maintain optimal reproductive health.
